Following months of anticipation, celebrity chef James Martin has announced the official opening date for his new UK restaurant. The Leeds Kitchen, situated at the Alea Casino in Clarence Dock, is set to open to the public on Saturday 9 April 2011, serving best of British cuisine with a twist.

James will be giving demonstrations for a maximum of 10 people per demo. They will be held in the Cadogan & James Deli in Winchester after closing time. These Demos are on a 'first come, first served' basis, until the 10 people are booked for each.

James visited the Huddersfield Student Union to prove to students that you can make a cheap and healthy meal in less time than it takes to get a takeaway. A load of students from across Kirklees gathered at the Union to watch James compete against the clock to create a delicious and healthy alternative to a takeaway before it arrived.
The event was another exciting part of 'Up For It', a campaign which has brought fun and entertainment to students from Kirklees, to show them that healthy cooking can be fun and anyone can do it!
The cookery event was a fun and interactive experience that allowed students to get involved and try different dishes whilst getting inspiration for their own dinner parties. The students also had the opportunity to sign up for the next stage of the campaign, a Come Dine with Me challenge, where they can win a prize of
