The finalists took part in challenges including an omelette challenge and a James Martin copy cat challenge.  As the winner Joanne received £1,000 of home economics equipment for her school, £250 Clockwork Orange and a bespoke award. A load of students from across Kirklees gathered at the Union to watch James compete against the clock to create a delicious and healthy alternative to a takeaway before it arrived.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;The event was another exciting part of 'Up For It', a campaign which has brought fun and entertainment to students from Kirklees, to show them that healthy cooking can be fun and anyone can do it! &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;The cookery event was a fun and interactive experience that allowed students to get involved and try different dishes whilst getting inspiration for their own dinner parties. The students also had the opportunity to sign up for the next stage of the campaign, a Come Dine with Me challenge, where they can win a prize of £500 cash.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;Lynne Cliffe, project manager of Up For It, said: “We’re delighted that James was able to come to Huddersfield as part of our Up For It campaign.  James showed the students that cooking can be easy and fun and something to experiment with.                <description>&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:bold;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;The 2007 search to find England’s gifted young chefs of the future is over!&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"&gt; Five pupils, aged 11 – 16, have beaten off stiff competition from around the country in a cookery challenge to take the title of Quality Standard beef mince Young Chef Champion.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;The challenge was launched by the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) in 2006. Now in its second year, the competition aims to inspire youngsters to get cooking and encourage them to take an interest in food and healthy eating. Students from Key Stages 3 &amp;amp; 4 were asked to submit their own original Quality Standard beef mince recipe. Along with a timeplan and budget breakdown. &lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;SPAN ALIGN="LEFT"&gt;&lt;FONT style="font-weight:normal;"  COLOR="#000000"  &gt;Entries flooded in from all across the country and after whittling it down to 43 regional finalists, five tense cook-offs took place around the country. The students were each given just one hour to prepare and cook their dishes, which were created on a strict budget of £10.
