Food destinations

I feel very lucky in my job that I get the opportunity to try out some amazing places to eat. I’m going to share a few that I’ve eaten at recently here, not because I’m being paid or asked to but simply because they’re excellent!

Lympstone

Earlier this month I went to visit my mate, Michael Caines, stunning new hotel and restaurant, Lympstone Manor, and I can honestly say it was the best meal I’ve ever eaten in UK.

There are five menus to choose from, I chose the Estuary Tasting Menu which is inspired by the Georgian manor house’s beautiful surroundings. Starting with warm lobster of salad and ending with coconut panna cotta it was seven courses of perfection eaten overlooking the Exe estuary.

Thanks to the whole team at Lympstone Manor.

The Best Dressed Crab Limited

Best Dressed CrabI just love this place. They serve simple, honest seafood that is so fresh and it’s a place I always come back to.

The menu includes fresh crab and prawn sandwiches, lobster crab and prawn salads and seafood platters. I love the lobster and chips served with lemon. sandwiches, salads and seafood platters with lemon and chips.

It’s all caught locally and you get to eat it sat in the restaurant above the water it came from!

Paul Ainsworth at no 6

Paul Ainsworth at number 6 Is the only Michelin star restaurant in Padstow. Paul is famous for his monkey bread on Masterchef…a recipe he nicked from me!

The restaurant has recently been beautifully refurbished and you can now enjoy the action in the kitchen while eating the stunning modern food.

There’s a focus on locally sourced produce and the team is amazing. Paul also owns Rojanos in the Square which specialises in Italian food and the Padstow Townhouse.

Restaurant Nathan Outlaw

Restaurant Nathan Outlaw was recently announced the UKs best restaurant in The Good Food Guide. Situated at the top of Port Isaac the restaurant exclusively serves a sustainably sourced seafood tasting menu. Nathan and the team are worthy winners of the title and I can’t wait for him to join me on Saturday Morning with James Martin very soon. Watch this space!
