Marmalade or Jam Roly Poly

Roly Poly is a classic pudding and this recipe from James lets you choose your own filling...jam or marmalade (both are brilliant!). Simple to make, this is one to eat to your heart's content! Top tip...don't wrap your pudding too tight...or it won't rise!

Ingredients

  • 250g self rising flour
  • 125g suet
  • Pinch of salt
  • 150ml milk
For the filling
  • 1 jar of marmalade or 1 jar of jam
To serve
  • Caramel Clotted cream
  • Custard

Method

  • To make the suet pastry, mix all the ingredients together to form a dough, roll out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.
  • Cover in marmalade or jam roll up into a Swiss roll.
  • Wrap in baking paper then foil and seal tightly.
  • Sit in a bain-marie and steam for 1 hour.
  • Slice and serve with warmed custard and clotted cream.
