Ingredients

  • 800g beef mince
  • Salt and pepper
Sauce:
  • 15ml olive oil
  • 500g fresh tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion peeled and diced
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • few sprigs oregano
  • 50ml white wine
  • 50ml sherry
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 tbs pimento
  • 1 jar roasted red peppers drained and chopped
  • 100g fresh borlotti beans
  • 1 small bunch of parsley

Method

Season the beef and roll into 8 even sized balls. Fry in a non stick pan in a splash of oil for 8 to 10 minutes.

Meanwhile fry the onion and garlic in oil for a minute, add the wine, tomatoes, peppers, pimento, sherry and star anise. Bring to the boil then simmer for 5 mins.

Pop in the meatballs, add the borlotti beans and oregano and cook for a further 5 minutes. Finish with the parsley and season and serve.
